HACKNEY PORTFOLIO
Eric Hackney
Bio
As a game designer I have chosen to focus on designing systems in both physical games (Such as trading card games) as well as video games. I also have a focus on narrative design for both fields and try to focus on scriptwriting and visual story telling.
I have worked on many teams taking on roles in both management as well as a team member. I have two years of work experience out of industry as well as experience judging for multiple trading card games. This gives me a better understanding of mechanics, player experience, and balancing.
I grew up in a small town called Kincardine, Ontario and currently reside in Oakville, Ontario. I am currently attending Sheridan College
in their Honors Bachelor of Game Design program.
In my personal time:
9-1-1 Racing:
My family and I run a racing team called 9-1-1 Racing over the summer at Sauble Speedway in Ontario. While my father drives the car I help with repairs and getting him from the pit to the track on time. We currently race in the bone stock division with our Ford Mustang pictured on my shirt in the image above.
Hobbies:
Trading Card Games:
In my spare time I often go to my local game store and play a trading card game with friends. I know how to play most tcgs but my preferred games to play are Magic The Gathering and Digimon. I am also a registered judge for the Pokémon trading card game.
Comics:
I've been collecting comics for a few years now. I mostly have focused my collection on Spider-man, Nightwing, and the first volume of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but, I collect many series spanning multiple years and companies.
Console Collecting:
One of my other hobbies is collecting consoles from different years. Currently my oldest console is the Atari 2600 and I have been working my way up to New generation consoles. I also collect the games for the consoles so I can get a wide variety of play experiences on the games original releases.
